Typically:
Practices start late July to early August (depending on age group).
Games begin late August to early September (depending on age group).
Games end last October to early November (depending on age group).
During the month of August all ages groups practice 2 days a week.
Once games begin field space becomes limited and for U6-U12 practices will vary from team to team but practicing 1 day a week is typical. The U14 and up age groups will continue to practice but 1-2 days a week (depending on field space).
For ages U6 to U12, play 2 games a week with one game during the week and one game during the weekend (typically on Saturdays).
For U14 and up, play 1-2 games a week and only play on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
Uniform (jersey, shorts and socks), cleats, shin guards and a water bottle.
Uniforms can be purchased at walk-in registration. After walk-in registration dates, use our Uniforms page.
Find out on the Uniforms page.
U6-U12 recreational uniforms are reversible.
U14 & older uniforms have two jerseys: one blue, one white.
The younger ones may be used as the older ones if they still fit.
Competitive jerseys may also be used in Recreational.
Team formations begin once registration has been closed (mid-to-late June) at which time a coach will be assigned. Please know that we need a "cleared" head coach for each team and if there is no coach there is no team. All of our coaches are volunteers.
A coach must be identified and then cleared before we can assign them a team. Initial contact from your player's coach should occur between the end of July to early August. Contact from your coach will be by an email, text or a call. To help reduce delays in this initial contact, please be sure to list your contact information clearly printed on the registration form.
You can help by getting cleared to be an Assistant Coach or a Team Manager. Both of these positions are needed to ensure a successful season for your player and their team. Remember, these are kids this is just a game, so just be an encouraging parent, let them have fun and never coach from the sidelines. Don't ever forget that your player's coaching staff are all volunteers and they deserve your respect and support.
Find out on our Coach Registration page.
We encourage all of our coaches to take online courses to assist them with their understanding for the positions, the game and the player. We will reimburse all coaches for securing a certificate or passing a course once proof of completion has been provided. You can start with the free course "Introduction To Grassroots Coaching" which will be the standard for all new and existing coaching and their staff.

Picture Day has always been on a Saturday after Labor Day weekend.
Picture Day is always at Eagle Park located in the open grass area near the tennis courts. Pictures are processed and delivered to the club at the end of October. For ease of distribution, the pictures will available for pickup when coaches drop off equipment. This will make them available for any team's end-of-the-year party.
City Cup is tournament style event that entertains both U10 and U12 age groups, only. Currently, this is for Rohnert Park Soccer Club's recreational teams. This event starts approximately two weeks prior to Halloween and could continue through the first week of November (depending on the weather). U14+ may be involved in a City Cup mid-season in Santa Rosa that is a tournament that really isn’t tied to the teams they are playing and is simply an opportunity to play a recreational tournament.
Santa Rosa Empire historically hosts a City Cup of their own; which occurs around mid-October. This tournament is open to all local Cal North (CYSA) Soccer Clubs and we encourage our teams to register and compete. Cal North (CYSA) hosts a Junior Cup Tournament. For this event we send 1-2 to teams from both U10 (boys and girls) and U12 (boys and girls) age groups. For the these teams we pool the most skillful players from each of our recreational teams.
Fields, field lining paint and materials, goals and nets, balls and ball bags, flags, cones, first-aid kits, referees, training & education, and lots of support. The U6 players get to each keep a ball at the end of the season.
End-of-season awards start being provided at the U10 age group which includes regular-season trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams and medals for the City Cup 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.
Join the Rohnert Park Soccer Club Board by becoming an Age Coordinator, a tournament director, At-Large member and any other available position. That is just a start. There is so much more...reach out to our president at president@rpsoccerclub.org to express your interest.
