Typically competitive tryouts are at the end of May of each year.
Keep an eye on the website or like us on Facebook for updates.
The Competitive Committee will meet to form teams and assign coaches to those teams. This committee will present their findings an recommendation to the soccer board who will consider that recommendation for approval. Team will be posted following the board's approval, which is usually during the first week of June. Team will be posted here.
The Big Tent Meeting (AKA Competitive Registration) is typically in the first part of June of each year and always follows competitive tryouts and team announcements.
Typically:
Academy will be from July 11th to July 15th and July 18th to July 22nd.
Training will begin the week after Academy ends.
Games begin late August to early September (depending on age group).
Games end last October to early November (depending on age group).
Trainings will be from 2 to 3 days a week (depending on age group).
Trainings will vary from 1.5 hours to 2 hour a sessions.
Trainings will vary 5:00pm to 9:00 pm (depending on age group).
All games are played on the weekend unless there is a special circumstance that requires a game during the week.
Uniform (jersey, shorts and socks), cleats, shin guards and a water bottle.
Uniforms can be purchased at the Big Tent Meeting.
Team formations begin once registration has been closed (mid-to-late June) at which time a coach will be assigned. Please know that we need a "cleared" head coach for each team and if there is no coach there is no team. All our coaches are volunteers. See "Coaching Information" below.
A coach must be identified and then cleared before we can assign them a team. Initial contact from your player's coach should occur between the end of July to early August. Contact from your coach will be by an email, text or a call. To help reduce delays in this initial contact, please be sure to list your contact information clearly printed on the registration form.
You can helping by getting cleared to be an Assistant Coach or a Team Manager. Both of these positions are needed to ensure a successful season for your player and their team.
Remember these are kids this is just a game, so just be an encouraging parent, let them have fun and never coach from the sidelines.
Don't ever forget that your player's coaching staff are all volunteers and they deserve your respect and support.
All our coaches must pass a background and fingerprint check. Please reach out to our Director of Coaching via email and express your interest to coach. It is always better to get the process started now than later.
With COVID still apart of our lives we encourage all our coaches to take online courses to assist them with an understanding for the position, the game and the player. We will reimburse all coaches for securing a certificate or passing course once proof of completion has been provided. You can start with the free course "Introduction To Grassroots Coaching"; which will be a standard for all new and existing coaching and their staff.
Please reach out to your recreational director of coaching at doc@rpsoccerclub.org for further details.
Picture Day has always been on a Saturday after Labor Day weekend.
Picture Day is always at Eagle Park located in the open grass area near the tennis courts.
And before you ask, pictures are processed and delivered to the club at the end of October. For ease of distribution, the pictures will available for pickup when coaches drop off equipment. This will make them available for any teams end-of-the-year party.
City Cup is tournament style event that entertains both U10 and U12 age groups, only. Currently, this is for Rohnert Park Soccer Club's recreational teams.
This event starts approximately two weeks prior to Halloween and could continue through the first week of November (depending on the weather).
U14+ may be involved in a City Cup mid-season in Santa Rosa that is a tournament that really isn’t tied to the teams they are playing and is simply an opportunity to play a recreational tournament.
Santa Rosa Empire historically hosts a City Cup of their own; which occurs around mid-October. This tournament is open to all local Cal North (CYSA) Soccer Clubs and we encourage our teams to register and compete.
Cal North (CYSA) hosts a Junior Cup Tournament. For this event we send 1-2 to teams from both U10 (boys and girls) and U12 (boys and girls) age groups. For the these teams we pool the most skillful players from each of our recreational teams.
Fields, field lining paint and materials, goals and nets, balls and ball bags, flags, cones, first-aid kits and referees.
Fall Season trophies for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams in the U10 and U12 age groups.
City Cup medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.
Ciy Cup dog tags for all teams that competed.
